ICAEW: Be warned: next Monday, 5 January 2015, has been designated “Blue Monday” because researchers have worked out that it is the most miserable day of the year. Factors including the first day back after the Christmas and New Year break, the weather, the debts run up at Christmas and all those New Year’s resolutions that have gone by the board already, all combine apparently to make it the most moan-filled day of the year.
